Hello, im new. My name is melissa, im 13 and I live in Michigan. I just found this community and thought it was rather intresting. I was scanning through the book store one day and I came upon this book. At first I wasn't sure what it was about, but I ended up getting it. I read it in a few days, I couldnt put it down. And in the end, I was in tears. I loved it. It is definitly one of my favorites if not my favorite.
Well thats all I have to say for now. so goodbye

.. p.s- everyone should check out the park bench rant on purevolume.com

Hi, my name is Jacob and I am new to this community, and, well, lj in general. I am 15 years old from Springfield, MA. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is my FAVORITE BOOK EVER!!!!!! I love it to death. Just recently, one of my friends in Northampton told me that some indie film company named AFAYA Productions is making a film of it near his town. I became so stoked about this, and after like a million hours of searching, I found their website. I think this is the best news I have ever heard, this movie is going to rock hardcore.

I just made my first community! It's called book_talk, and every month we pick a new book to read as a group, and then discuss and share our ideas and opinions through artwork, poetry, icons, graphics, writing or whatever. The first 5 people to join are auto accepted, and after 25 people join, the group will be locked down, so it doesn't get too crowded. The first book will be started soon, so join today!

WorldsJournal is an organization that is doing something new. They are sending out one journal, and it will pass through 25 people that will each have two weeks to do whatever they want to it. They can write, draw, post pictures, give it to a friend for a few days, WHATEVER. At the end of the two weeks they will ship it off to the next person, sending off a part of themselves along with it. If you are interested in joining, just join the group, and read the instructions there on what to do next. Hurry! Space is limited! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WorldsJournal/

real words... [28 May 2004|07:07am]

I'm Jolene. I'm a fan of Stephen Chbosky and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

I could especially relate to his novel because I have something similar. When I was 17 I began to write my favorite rockstar about my dysfunctional home life and general reflections. He saved these letters for me for 9 years then returnd them perfectly preserved.

My experience was much darker than Charlies...or was at least documented a bit darker. The content involves abuse, self-injury, drug experimentation and just plain lonliness. I have a website for my proposed novel where you can find excerpts, artwork and photographs.

I'm always seeking feedback.

Hey I'm new to the community and I love Perks. However I wish I had it now with me but I lend it to my friend and instead of getting his own like Charlie did, he's reading it. So, I am really overwhelmed with my graduation being Tommorrow and soon being a Freshman in College and I remember one part of the book where Charlie is like ''how would it be like when I have to get my own shampoo''. I know that's not the exact quote, i would like to have the exact one, so if any of you is nice enough to find it for me. I'd <3 u lotzzz.

did the final episode of "friends" automatically make anyone else think of the big final episode of "mash" in the perks? and did anyone have a charlie-esque moment while watching friends?

just a thought..

This is a really cool idea, I think it's awesome that it's all be organized and stuff.

I am really in love with (you), and it hurts very much

I don't know what's wrong with me. It's like all I can do is keep writing this gibberish to keep from breaking apart.

Thanks for existing. I really don't know what to say, but I wanted to say something. I'm finishing up reading Perks for the second time, then I'm going to give it to my friend to read, and then read it again cuz I'll have missed it, and then I'm going to leave (my copy) at my special someone's house and hope he reads it, even tho I know he doesn't like to read much.

the perks of being a wallflower is one of the best (maybe the best) books i've ever read. i really connected with it, as many people here did. i've only read it four times, but i convinced my english teacher to read it and now it's one of her faves. i have to keep reading it, because i'm sad when it's over. half of this is because well, it's a pretty sad ending, and the other half would be that in reading it, you really get to know charlie. after august 22, 1992 (i think that's the date), you turn the page, and charlie's gone! i doesn't hurt any less everytime i read it, even though i know what's coming.
well, i'm done babbling. glad to be part of the community!

Hey I just joined this community and i just finished the perks.
I'm glad i found people who i can share my thoughts about the book because most of my friends haven't read the book, and i really want to talk about my feelings on the book. I mean, alot my friends or even myself before reading this would not have thought of this stuff.

Wow, it was so hard to just put the book down, it sucks that it had to end.

great book.

(if you havent read perks, what are you waiting for?!. but you might not want to read this entry cause itll spoil the book for you)

so i read the perks of a wallflower in one day yesterday. and i am almost finished reading it a second time. ... <3 amazing . i love that book. i love charlie. i wish more people were as caring as charlie. i wish i was. at first i was confused at what happened at the end, and so many people told me different things (ie: he tried to kill himself) .

but now i figured it out, about his aunt molesting him. wow, it was so vague and blahh. how many of you figured it out right away?

this book is my favorite and it is not just because it is the last one i read. this book is life changing.

<3 and i swear, in that moment, we were i n f i n a t e .

xposted like crazy... [12 Mar 2004|10:46am]

I'm a senior in high school and for my lit class we have to write a research paper on any book that we want. I really want to do mine on Perks because it is my absolute favorite book and I've read it about 11 times and if I were to write my paper on it, I know I wouldn't get bored with it. The problem is, since it's not an old book and isn't really considered to be a classic yet I don't know if there will be a whole lot of scholarship on it... I know there are quite a few websites but I need books and magazine articles. Has anyone tried writing a paper on Perks? Did you find enough stuff written about it that it worked out for you? Does anyone have the titles of anybooks that talk about it or any magazines that have written about it? Pleassssse help me. I'm freaking out because I'm supposed to turn in all my research and thesis Monday and I'm not getting anywhere. Thanks in advance...

Hi kids.
I don't actually remember how I came across this community, but I'm sure glad I did.

I have read The Perks fourteen times. I am currently on my 15th. I carry it with my every where. It's almost to the point of falling apart. I have all my favorite lines highlighted. The book is almost a comfort zone in a way.

Is the project still going?..or even started?
